09.01.07 | Our New Land, 4

Today we went to the new land to scout it out; Dad told us after we had walked around for a long time that it was ours; he hoped we liked it! WOW, after so many years of searching for land, we own this one!

Before we set off on our trek, Brandon took this picture of us at the front of our land

Off we go...get in line!

Dad showing us where we were on the land

The "pond" that needs some dam work, and a little clean-up work, too

The only building on the property, promptly dubbed "The Mansion" because it was appraised for $18,000! It certainly is not worth that much, but it is neat inside. The previous owners left chairs, books, clothes and even food. Mom is not thrilled with it, especially since wild varmits share it--we threaten to move into it...

...pretty easy to get lost on a half-a-square mile of land!

This is the land...overgrown, and lots of little evergreen trees scattered everywhere. it. Plus there is a beautiful. huge sky overhead!

After our tiring walk, we had a refreshing lunch, and watermelon, a family favorite!

Across the road, there is a corn field. One nice thing about the property is that you don't have to worry about heavy traffic when crossing the street!

This is the gravel road that borders on side of our quarter

09.28.07 | Building a Wall

Dad hired a friend of ours to re-build a retaining wall ajoining our house. The boys loved watching Joshua pull down the old brick wall with his truck!

Wall: Before and during rebuilding...

When they completed cleaning up the bricks, Samuel started cleaning the cement off individual bricks with a chisel. He was working last night in the dark, and the faint "clink, clink" of the chisel was so cute. In one hand he used the chisel, and with the other his flashlight!

...After the rebuilding

While the others were "helping" with wall, Samuel diligently cleaned bricks!

Today Jonathan received a air rocket for a birthday gift and all had fun shooting it
