Constitutional Law Friday | November 20, 2009
Reading 'Constitional Law for Enlightened Citizens'
I have been taking HSLDA's Constitutional Law for Enlightened Citizens this fall. It has been very interesting and enlightening! The chats with Dr. Farris are informative, as well. I am blessed to see him teach our Country's young people about the intent of the Constitution and how our government should operate; he has taught this course to thousands of young people in the past decade. I pray the Lord allows us to witness the fruits of his labor in our entire nation's political sphere.
It is vital that we learn to once again apply the meaning of the Constitution in our nation - and when we stray, we must return to course. I personally do not plan on entering the political field, but knowing what powers the Constution has granted our government (and likewise, which it has NOT granted!) has greatly affected my worldview! We must be enlightened citizens, or our country will cease to be a true republic. Our choices and vote counts - we must take responsibility.
"Liberty means responsibilty. That's why most men dread it." (George Benard Shaw)
Live feed: Dr. Farris
We go to the library for some of the chats; while I listen to Dr. Farris, Mom browses thousands of books...and usually brings nearly as many home! She reads on many different subjects.
I began correspondence college courses through Whitefield College two weeks ago. I am learning a lot, but it has been quite a schedule adjustment! I would appreciate prayers that I can keep up with the homework and have wisdom to understand all of the information. This season has certainly been a learning adventure as I learn to use time more wisely and study diligently during these years.

Farm Trade Show Saturday | November 14, 2009
Small Farm Trade Show
Every year we look forward to attending the Small Farm Trade Show in Missouri. Of course, our favorite part is visiting with friends we have made there the past five years. This year, we made the trip in one day instead of two, since we needed to be home at milking times.

Rachael, Maggie and I
Three years ago, we met a dear family at the Trade Show, the Bullingtons. Maggie, one of their daughters, and I have corresponded frequently and I have been blessed by her sweet friendship throughout the past few years. We were not expecting their family to attend this year because of the long distance they have to travel; I had already asked if they were attending and she said no, so I was SO surprised when her family decided to make the long trip to the Trade Show at the last minute! Her mother and one brother stayed home to take care of their animals, and we sorely missed seeing them all together. But I was so blessed that the Lord allowed us to visit our dear friends again!

The Weinholds and Bryants
Earlier this year, we "met" the Weinhold family via correspondence through KBR magazine. Last week they visited us while on a trip through our area, and we realized that we had also met them many years ago through other friends! The Lord works in amazing ways. They have a dear family of seven young men and three sweet young ladies! We have much in common and are so thankful the Lord brought us together and look forward to getting together again soon.
