03.29.08 | Burning Our Field
Today the family burned some of our front field (at our home). We were going to go to our new property and prepare to burn there, but a family member was sick, so we changed our plans. The boys enjoyed burning the field. At one point it jumped the water drenched boundary, and they courageously fought the fire with shovels!

03.25.08 | Alpacas
Tonight we visited the HummV Alpaca farm. They have 24 Alpacas, and we really enjoyed learning about them.

Mrs. Haus showed us her spinning wheel she uses to
spin alpaca fiber.

Jonathan--the family inventor--made a tire swing in a tree this week. The weather was so nice today and the setting sun made a beautiful picture this afternoon swinging.

03.21.08 | Selling Our Kids
We posted an ad for our goat kids on Craig's List, not expecting much of a response since there were a lot of postings for goat kids. Much to our surprise, an hour after we posted the ad, the calls began. Emails and calls poured in yesterday and today.
The four females are sold, and today the first customer picks up two female kids and one of our milking does. This is an exciting season for us.

By the way, we have a llama now. He is to be a "guard animal" for our goat herd, which will especially be needful when we move to our new property. The boys have found many wild animal tracks there!

03.16.08 | Going to Town
Today we went to Holton, a nearby town, to attend a garden show. We wanted to meet some of the people in our new community and to see what local buisnesses were there.
After the show, we drove through Denison and stopped by the World's Largest Fur Trading Business. We were amazed at all the coyote, bobcat, raccoon, muskrat, and beaver skins. We had a tour of the place and leaned and watched how they process these many skins.

03.08 | Mom Has A Cello!
Mom recently decided she liked the cello sound. Within three days we bought one--big news for us, who are very slow at decision making and buying things! Dad also bought himself a bass guitar in hopes of teaching himself.

03.13.08 | Goofing Around
We attend a monthly science class for homeschoolers at a county park. Today, since the weather was warmer, we ate our lunch at a picnic area. After quickly eating our lunch, we raced off to swing and slide.

03.09.08 | Feeding Kids
The goat kids are growing and are so cute jumping around! So far, we have six goat kids and our last doe is due to kid soon.

These twins are almost identical!

03.01.08 | We're kidding!
We just arrived home from MO last night. This afternoon one of our does had three goat kids. This is our first kidding season, and we're learning lot. We are taking the kids away from the mother at birth and bottle-feeding them. The triplets are adorable!
